An update on what I have been doing.

Some of this was on FaceBook, some not.

Mostly I have been SCUBA Diving. The Great White Wall is an incredible dive along a wall of mostly white coral. A beautiful site.

Straddling the International Date Line, so I could be in Today and Yesterday at the same time. This is the 180th Meridian, which does not exactly match up with time zones. Still, Fiji is the only place where the 180th Meridian crosses land other than Siberia and the Antarctic.

Mapping and Tracking programs are still having issues with the international date line. They all keep thinking I am circling the globe instantly.

The dive boat was simple and perfect for the location.

The resort was nice, small and had a great view.

Lunch Breaks on Dive Days were in perfect little Island Beaches.

A really great group of divers.

WATER FALL TREK

We went on a trek to some waterfalls. We ended up only seeing one of them. The first one you can swim in, and it is easy to get to. The second one required a difficult hike up a hill, then more, less treacherous hiking to get to it, and you could not swim in it. Some of our team could not make the entire hike, so those of us that were up to it hiked to a fantastic view point at the end of the treacherous part, then turned around and came back.

The road out there gave us a free massage. The paved parts were good, but a bit bumpy. Washboard would be the US term.

One of the main bridges, one that we cross every day to go SCUBA diving.

Awesome Scenery.

A little tough getting into the cold water at first, but it was fun trying to get under the falls.

The falls from above.

This is as far as we got. The rest of the hike would have been easy enough, but there just was not enough time.

TRADITIONAL FIJI PARTY

The Resort put on a traditional Fiji Party, complete with decorations.

And a traditional feast, made in a pit in the ground under wet banana tree leaves.

The traditional way to be called to dinner, a log drum.

This man is making traditional Kava. A powder is put in a cloth bag, and kneaded and filtered to make a strong brown drink. This drink has a calming affect. Nothing narcotic, just makes you more relaxed. It is said to slow the brain down. Not necessarily something I can afford.....

And the Kava, probably slowed my brain enough to think THIS was a good idea.

And traditional Dances and Songs. It was really impressive and fun.

And yes, they got most of us, including me, up to dance. Fortunately there is not evidence of that.
